THE OPPORTUNITY

ENCATC is expanding its headquarters in Brussels to implement a rich and exciting 4-year programme with an emphasis on cross-sector collaboration, innovative learning models, and upskilling activities that aims at addressing current and future sustainable development challenges. To help us achieve this ambitious goal, we are seeking a dedicated and talented Communications Officer.


YOUR ROLE

Job summary

You will take over the role of Communications Officer, responsible for ENCATC’s internal and external communications. In this pivotal position, you will ensure that ENCATC’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives are clearly communicated to engage, inform, and inspire our global network of members, partners, and stakeholders in the arts and cultural sectors. Reporting directly to ENCATC leadership, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies that enhance our visibility, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and foster an inclusive and informed community.

As Communications Officer, you’ll be at the heart of ENCATC’s efforts to promote cultural management and policy education worldwide. Your work will be crucial in aligning internal and external communications with ENCATC’s goals, ensuring that our network is well-connected and engaged. Through strategic content creation, digital engagement, and relationship building, you’ll help shape the narrative of ENCATC’s initiatives, creating a unified voice that resonates across cultures and continents.


YOUR RESPONSABILITIES

1.     Strategic communication planning

Develop and implement a communication strategy that aligns with ENCATC’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives, focusing on promoting education, research, and sustainable development in cultural management and policy.

Identify key messages, audiences, and communication channels to effectively reach and engage diverse stakeholders, including members, partners, policymakers, and the public.

Collaborate with ENCATC leadership to ensure the communication strategy supports organizational growth and helps us achieve our engagement goals across regions.

2.     Internal communication

Foster a strong internal communication framework that ensures transparency, engagement, and alignment among staff and members across ENCATC’s network.

Develop and share regular internal updates, newsletters, and briefings to keep members, staff, and partners informed of ENCATC’s initiatives, programs, and achievements.

3.     Content creation and management

Produce high-quality content for various channels, including press releases, newsletters, social media posts, website updates, reports, publications (magazine and newsletter), and promotional materials to highlight ENCATC’s initiatives, events, and achievements.

Develop storytelling and content that reflects ENCATC’s commitment to inclusivity, sustainability, and cultural diversity, appealing to a broad, international audience.

4.     Social media and digital marketing

Manage ENCATC’s social media presence across platforms (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) to foster engagement and grow ENCATC’s online community.

Implement social media campaigns that promote events, research findings, and advocacy efforts, and monitor social media analytics to assess impact and adjust strategies as needed.

5.     Event promotion and support

Support the promotion and communication for ENCATC’s events, including conferences, workshops, webinars, and annual meetings, ensuring broad and diverse participation. 

Collaborate with event organizers to develop event-specific communication plans and create promotional materials, email campaigns, and event-related content.

Facilitate media partnerships and outreach to increase event visibility and impact.

6.     Stakeholder and media relations

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including members, cultural organizations, universities, research institutions, policymakers, and funders.

Serve as ENCATC’s primary point of contact for media inquiries, proactively building a network of media contacts in arts, culture, and education sectors.

Draft and distribute press releases and handle media inquiries to increase awareness and coverage of ENCATC’s activities and impact.

7.     Website and digital presence management

Manage and update content for the ENCATC website and Knowledge Hub, ensuring they showcase the latest initiatives, news, and resources.

Work with web developers or IT specialists to ensure optimal website performance and user experience, focusing on accessibility, inclusivity, and ease of navigation, if necessary.

8.     Monitoring and evaluation

Track, analyze, and report on communication metrics, including social media engagement, website traffic, newsletter open rates, and media coverage.

Prepare reports and presentations on communication outcomes as part of ongoing accountability and improvement and demonstrate ENCATC’s value and impact to stakeholders.

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications
  • A successful track record of 2-3 years of work experience (beyond internships) in the field of communications
  • Fluent in English, basic knowledge of French, additional languages is an asset
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or other video/image/audio editing tools
  • Experience with CMS platforms and databases (additional IT skills are a plus)
  • Familiar with other relevant tools for the job, including generative AI

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Location: Brussels, Belgium (on-site). The selected candidate will need to either live in Belgium or be willing to move to Belgium for the duration of the contract (starting in January 2025 and finishing on 31/12/2028).

Working hours: full-time, 38h/week
